LOOK AT ME

LOOK AT ME was honoured with Honorary Mention in the Tampere Film Festival:

In this touching and thought provoking documentary the director shows us how the dedication, respect and love of a committed teacher can make a
difference in the lives of troubled youth.

LOOK AT ME is a strong and touching depiction of present day youth who are under threat of becoming socially excluded due to their different learning skills, and their teacher, who is trying to help these young people to finish their compulsory education and to help them to learn to trust themselves and their future.

LOOK AT ME  is an evocation of a final spring term of a school year: the youth, their dreams and the wriggling in chairs. These youngsters are 9th graders in comprehensive school, and they are for one reason or another, in a special unit. The story’s main character is their teacher Ulla who has made a career as a drama teacher for children and young people. In her last year before retirement Ulla has taken up the challenge of leading this diverse group of twelve pupils.

The Finnish Primary School is famous about high results in The Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA) and school shootings. Teasing at school and school shootings are some subjects of this film.
